My girlfriend gets ministrokes and today her left side became paralyized which is temporary. What is it?

She says it's a rare blood disorder that doctors are unable to pinpoint exactly. She takes something like 14 pills a day for it. Has anyone hear of this before and/or know how to cure this? What it is, etc?
